XBMC Box

XBMC is a freeware media center/ player, however these days boxes are being made. Either by home novices, or manufactured off the shelf systems, the XBMC box is surely the future of home entertainment.
The XBMC box can be used to surf the net, stream content online, or stream content within a shared network, and the use of other apps and games including 3D games straight to your TV set. Usually connected through a HDMI cable, however other connections can be configured or adapters are also available making it possible to connect an older TV however not sure on the quality of the picture.
The XBMC removes the need for cables as one HDMI cable to your TV and possible an ethernet cable to the box to increase your speed rather than wifi but wifi should be adequate for most applications. The ethernet cable could also be connected to a computer with all your media files acting as a server so all your files are accessed direct rather than through the wifi network.

these products are really still in developmental stages but offer an exciting future for are old TVs and a cheap price compared to mini computers.
